Performing at weddings in Ballintubber Abbey holds great significance for me. Living close by in Turlough, Ballintubber Abbey was one of the first venues where I ever performed music or sang at a wedding ceremony. Years later, I continue to perform at one of my favorite sacred locations in Ireland.
The Abbey has always played an important role in weddings. Thousands of couples have married here over the years, and I feel privileged to have performed and to continue performing, on a couple’s most special day. Playing the harp and singing in Ballintubber Abbey is a truly special experience for me.
The acoustics of Ballintubber Abbey provide a stunning backdrop for live music. The combination of harp, piano, guitar, and voice creates a special atmosphere within the ancient and sacred stone walls of the Abbey.
For me, the Abbey is filled with a sense of tranquility and history. It creates an inner peace not just for me but for each couple who chooses to marry here.
My harp comes alive in the Abbey, and I love adding my voice or playing the beautiful electric piano situated there. Very often, I also play the guitar or flute. Adding other musicians on the day further enhances the majestic sounds that the Abbey creates.
In this sacred place of worship, the harp and vocals create a combination of beauty that resonates with the history, spirituality, and sanctity of the Abbey.
