Tax-Efficient Giving
If you pay income tax and donate more than €250 in a calendar year, Ballintubber Abbey can reclaim the tax paid on your donation(s). This applies only to personal gifts, not to funds raised through sponsorship. Tax-efficient giving can increase the value of your donation by up to 45%.
An enduring certificate (CHY3) is valid for 5 years, while an annual certificate (CHY4) is valid for one year.
The tax refund from all donors, whether PAYE or self-assessed, now goes directly to the Abbey at a blended rate of 31%, without the need to ask about individual tax affairs. Refunds may be rejected only if insufficient tax was paid in the relevant year or if incorrect details are provided.
The minimum qualifying donation remains €250, and the relief is applied on a grossed-up basis.
