November Harmonies

Full House for “November Harmonies” at Ballintubber Abbey

Three Choirs Unite for an Unforgettable Evening of Music and Community

Ballintubber Abbey was filled to capacity on Saturday, 22nd November, as audiences gathered for November Harmonies—a powerful celebration of music, heritage, and community spirit.

The evening opened with a warm welcome from Suellen McKenna, Manager of Ballintubber Abbey and MC for the event. She extended heartfelt thanks to all in attendance and offered a special welcome to the visiting Ballinteer Male Voice Choir, who travelled from South Dublin to be part of this year’s concert.

The concert began with a beautiful performance by the Ballintubber Abbey Choir, followed by the celebrated Mayo Male Voice Choir, and concluded with a stirring programme from the visiting Ballinteer Male Voice Choir.

The evening came to a powerful close as all three choirs joined together for a breathtaking rendition of “An American Trilogy”, filling the ancient Abbey with sound that moved the audience to their feet.

All proceeds from November Harmonies go toward the continued preservation and restoration of Ballintubber Abbey, which will celebrate its 810th anniversary in 2026.

With funding now secured for the new Cultural and Heritage Visitor Centre, due to begin construction early next year, the Ballintubber Abbey Trust is shifting its focus to essential conservation works on the Abbey itself. These efforts ensure that the historic structure is preserved, safeguarded, and enhanced for future generations.
