Walk Ireland’s Only Permanent IVV Trails from Ballintubber Abbey

Explore the Mayo countryside on Ireland’s only British Walking Federation permanent IVV‑certified trails, proudly organised by the Ballintubber Abbey Ramblers. Starting at the historic Ballintubber Abbey, where we welcome all visitors and walkers taking part in the Castlebar International 4 Day

Walks –  Choose from: 

Abbey Ramble 1 (12 km, Grade 1), a peaceful route through quiet country roads;

Abbey Ramble 2 (25 km, Grade 2), which also visits historic Moore Hall and scenic Lough Carra; or the

Westport Walk (10 km, Grade 3), a mixed urban‑rural loop via the Westport Greenway, Westport Harbour, and the grounds of Westport House.

Open to all ages and abilities, these non‑competitive walks are part of the IVV international network supported by the British Walking Federation. Entry is just €3 per walker, and every participant receives a certificate.
